Engineered Controls International (ECI), also known as RegO, had a lot to celebrate during National Apprenticeship Week in North Carolina. Not only did the company acknowledge a significant milestone achievement for one of its team members during NAW, but on Nov. 18, 2021, which was National Women in Apprenticeship Day, this team member, Victoria Rose, became the first-ever female to complete ECI’s Career Accelerator Program (CAP). With the completion of the program, Rose is also a graduate of Alamance Community College with an associate degree in mechatronics engineering technology. In addition, Rose was recognized for earning her journeyworker certificate from ApprenticeshipNC and federal credentials from USDOL. 

Victoria Rose's journey as an apprentice began when she attended Hugh M. Cummings High School in Burlington, N.C., and while the road was not always a smooth one, she persevered and achieved her dream of becoming a mechatronics engineer.

“Completing the program actually made me enthusiastic,” Rose said. “I worked really hard as best I could for those four years to graduate college with an associate degree, earn the journeyworker certification . . . and have a career with the best company after finishing the program."

Rose worked for another company from 2017 to 2020 until COVID-related problems forced the company to terminate her position. CAP was able to transfer Rose to ECI/RegO and it turned out to be a better opportunity and a better situation for Rose. Rose is the second student to complete an apprenticeship at ECI through CAP this year. 

“The timing of her completion could not be more fitting with National Apprenticeship Week, and National Women in Apprenticeship Day on Thursday,” said ApprenticeshipNC Regional Coordinator Tiffany Jacobs, who covers the Piedmont Triad Region. “Victoria is the embodiment of the intent behind this notable week. By investing in employees like Victoria, ECI is not only closing the skills gap but also the opportunity gap.”

Rose now proudly works for the company full-time as a mechatronics engineer.
