Mountain Credit Union is a local community credit union and one of the first financial institutions to develop a registered apprenticeship program with the help of ApprenticeshipNC. Since 1963, Mountain Credit has served 10 counties in western North Carolina.

There are a lot of things ApprenticeshipNC sponsor firms appreciate. “We enjoy being a part of the ApprenticeshipNC because it gives an opportunity to have a different avenue to recruit new employees than what we’ve had in the past,” said Chris Angel, business development director. “It’s about having access to an employment pool that other financial institutions may not be accessing.”

“Mountain Credit Union has really good relationships with our area community colleges,” said Angel. This relationship has been enhanced as Mountain CU has worked with ApprenticeshipNC on class development and getting the training rolling so all participating students can move through the training program.
