ASHEBORO (July 26, 2022) — Apprenticeship Randolph was recently recognized as an Apprenticeship Ambassador by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship (OA) as a part of its Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiative.
“We are thrilled to be selected as one of 207 entities across the nation to promote apprenticeships and increase support and awareness,” Randolph Community College Director of Apprenticeships and Pathways Stacey Miller said. “Apprenticeship Randolph, in partnership with Randolph Community College, Asheboro City Schools, Randolph County Schools, Uwharrie Charter Academy, and our business and community partners, welcome the opportunity to showcase our great program.”
Registered Apprenticeship Ambassadors are approved for a two-year term and will partner with the Department of Labor to:
- Promote and expand awareness of the benefits of Registered Apprenticeship in the U.S. for industry, employers, career seekers, educators, and communities as a whole;
- Identify and scale innovative practices and partnerships to modernize, strengthen, and accelerate the adoption of Registered Apprenticeship;
- Increase access and support for underrepresented and underserved populations in Registered Apprenticeship including women, youth, people of color, rural communities, justice-involved individuals, and people with disabilities; and
- Communicate the business case for Registered Apprenticeship as a mainstream workforce strategy for high-demand industries and create opportunities for good jobs for all Americans across the economy.
“We welcome your partnership to serve as a champion in promoting, expanding, and diversifying Registered Apprenticeship and your support towards strengthening our nation’s workforce,” OA Administrator John. V. Ladd said in the acceptance letter.
The first cohort of Ambassadors will be recognized in August in recognition of the 85th anniversary of the National Apprenticeship Act.
